9 New Private Nigerian Universities Coming Soon — NUC
   Securing admissions in Nigeria's lean university system is a 
nightmare for many students because of the shortfall of tertiary 
institutions and limited admission slots.
The National Universities Commission
 (NUC) has announcement the imminent  arrival of nine more private 
universities into the the Nigerian educational system, even as the 
scramble for the few available admission spots continues yearly.
NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Julius A. Okojie, made the disclosure in Abuja at the last Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ECAN) Monthly Press Luncheon.
He said all preparations have been made to forward the names of the new Private Universities to the  recommend to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approval and licensing.
Okojie
 said the challenges faced by many applicants when it comes to securing 
admission, Okojie said the emergence of new institutions would be 
"[The]
 establishment of new universities would further expand the system, 
thereby creating more access for the teeming candidates who aspired to 
enrol for university education," Okojie was quoted as saying in the 
September 29th issue of NUC Bulletin of the 29th of September, 2014.
The
 Executive Secretary also said the Commission's Standing Committee on 
Private Universities (SCOPU) had "concluded all due diligence on the 
proposed universities."
He hailed the level of 
participation of private universities, saying it portends a bright 
future for quality and stable education system in Nigeria.
It will be recalled that Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, recently announced plans to add two new universities to the two he already own.
